The Hope Project seeks to bring Hope and Healing to wounded warriors, veterans, first responders, and their families, through the use of horses who many of which have been rescued from slaughter houses.

We achieve our mission through a combination of compassionate care, dedicated volunteer support, and programs centered around equine-assisted services. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, we connect veterans, first responders, and their families with our loving animals, fostering healing and personal growth. Through fundraising efforts and community outreach, we ensure the sustainability of our programs, allowing us to continue making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

The HOPE Project was founded in 2016 by Dr. David Trogdon, Chaplain (LTC), U.S. Army, Ret., following 33 years of dedicated military service. Known to many simply as “Chappy,” he continues to be driven by a deep passion for serving veterans and their families. His experience supporting individuals through trauma, combat stress, child loss, grief, and addiction has profoundly shaped his mission.
After discovering the powerful impact of equine-assisted services, Chappy felt called to create a place where true healing could take place. HOPE Project was established to provide support, connection, and renewal for veterans, first responders, and others facing life’s challenges.
